Extraction repeatability, thermal stability, and component durability in French press systems
About
Engineer-turned-coffee tester who stress-tests presses for repeatability, heat retention, and serviceable builds. Known for transparent scoring and reproducible methods using everyday gear.
Core Beliefs
Rituals are satisfying when they are measurable, repeatable, and durable in daily use.
Background
On a rainy week I logged 60 brews across three presses, measuring TDS and temperature drop every minute. The 'prettiest' pot couldn't repeat a sweet cup twice; the scuffed workhorse did. That's when I started prioritizing serviceable parts and stable thermal mass over design flourishes and wrote the rubric I still use.
